How to find meaning

What gives you meaning in life?

One of the most common themes arising in the one-to-one coaching sessions I run with organisation leaders and other team members is the question of how to find meaning in life.

So many of the issues and questions that people bring to coaching appear to be about practical matters – from how to balance work and life, through to where they’d like to be in 3 years’ time – but are ultimately related to what gives each client meaning in life.

It can be easy to lose track of what really gives you meaning when you are part of a culture that values particular things such as career success, productivity and material wealth. For some clients, the task is to challenge the assumptions that surround them in order to find what genuinely gives them meaning. Others may have a pretty good idea of what matters to them, but find themselves trapped in a job, lifestyle or situation where they are struggling to access it for various reasons, and their task is to find a way to re-imagine the possibilities for how they could live their lives to get more of what gives them meaning.

If you, or members of your team, would be interested in receiving some coaching to explore how to find meaning in your life and work, please get in touch with me.

In the meantime, here’s a link to a free guide and audiobook I wrote for Life Squared that explores the idea of meaning and how you can build a sense of real meaning in your own life.
