Workshop – Doing good without burning out
Fundraisers and other professionals working in the non-profit sector are reporting high levels of stress, overwhelm and burnout. We need to address this issue urgently – and explore its root causes, not just temporary fixes.
This workshop helps team members and leaders to improve their relationship with work, as members of a values-led sector that can sometimes overlook individual well-being. Investing in your team’s wellbeing isn’t just good for your people—it helps prevent burnout, improves retention, strengthens collaboration and enables your organisation to sustain its impact.
It’s not easy being someone who devotes their working life to seeking change. There are seemingly intractable issues to solve, hostile political environments, low budgets and a great sense of urgency and pressure to achieve change. So how can we look after ourselves better as individuals and team members?
This engaging, interactive workshop will explore why change-makers struggle to take care of themselves, and what we can do about it – as individuals, team members and leaders. It is designed for people working at all levels of non-profit organisations, and can be delivered to specific teams or entire organisations.
Through discussion, reflection and practical exercises, we’ll create space to step back from the day-to-day and reflect on how we work. Team members will get the chance to open up and share their own challenges and experiences, as well as developing insights as to why they may be struggling to look after themselves. We’ll then go on to explore some practical but profound ways in which each of us can look after ourselves better.
We will challenge some of the ideas about work in our sector, as well as participants’ own assumptions about the role of work in their lives – and will set out lots of practical yet profound ways they can rethink their relationship with work and look after themselves and their teams better.
Each participant will leave with practical tools for managing pressure, setting healthier boundaries, supporting colleagues and building more sustainable ways of working. Most importantly, they’ll feel lighter, more supported and ready to put those ideas into practice.
This isn’t about having an extra day’s holiday each year. This is about tackling the root causes of our wellbeing problem, and humanising our workplaces. The result is happier people, healthier teams and more sustainable organisations.
